In Texas - Yesterday, I bought 2 $20 - $500million Blockbusters, both nada. Later in the day, at another store, I purchased 2 more 500million Blocks and BUST!!, not to mention the 2 $10 TX Blacks III.... zilch. Just like most guys on here, I expect to win when I buy, not necessarily a huge jackpot. But to at least break even. I've hit $500 on many occassion yet haven't scratched a $1000 winner. Is there is a route of progression, I don't know. Probably wishful thinking but I do feel if I was in south FL, I might be a millionaire by now! Gotta believe

I always thought that the state was broken into zones and the top teir prizes were evenly distributed? So you mean to tell me that if a game has 10 top prizes, its possible ALL 10 of them could have all gone to the same city

I had a similar probem at a local store, the lady was scanning my tix and I had 5 or 6 different winning free tix and one that had an $8 winner..I ordered some more fantasy 5s and a few PBs and FL lotto and she claimed I owed her money. I said OH NO I DONT, it is right up there on the screen and she tried to argue and so I told her to pull the ticket from her throw away box...she agreed and then all of a sudden it was Oh yes you did win and it didnt show up on the register ....hmmmmmmm / REALLY

I play mostly Mega Millions and Little Lotto altho I have spent probably around $200 last year on the Win to Life instants.

Is it me or there are not many prizes in those? I use to really like LUCKY 7's but havent seen that in awhile. Good news is I just

picked up an Instant tix as it was on top of the garbage can in front of my Lotto store and it was a winner ($10) - not sure why

the person threw it out ! I would like to at least win $500 ONCE to recoup my money

Chris I posted in the other forum that I got 2 rolls of Solid Gold. The first roll I was on fire and was at $140 at the halfway point. I ended up with $160. The next roll through 52 tickets I was at $85. The last 8 hit $75 for a total of $160. Funny how PA is so random , but yet they are all the same. If I get a roll, I always look at a $150 return and ask myself, am I ok with losing $150. Like going to the casino and expecting to lose. I mentioned it over there that I am done for awhile. I hit all my big winners in a span of a week or so. considering i play a lot and heavy and have not hit $500 since this raises eyebrows for me. I believe the state circulated tons of hot rolls during April 2011 because every player on here had something good to post that time. Skeptic had that crazy run of infinite $500s and $1,000s the same month. A few years ago you needed to let the machine scan your tickets. I'm not sure if the machine misread the numbers or tickets were printed wrong, but you would occassionaly get a winner from otherwise losing tickets. Have not heard of this happening in this area for a couple years, all machines have been replaced.

If you are spending $7000+ each year on the lottery, I suggest you lay off the scratchers. Play Pick 3 or Pick 4 if your state has Pick 4. The odds are much, much better, and it's great entertainment. Personally, I play all the jackpot games in my state, and I play the Pick 4 game . I still lose more than I win, but I limit my play to $1 per draw except PB and MM, I play $2 per draw on those.

I read that same story, the security guard accidentally got a peak at one of the lists used to confirm winning tickets which had the roll numbers of the winning ticket and then he checked another list that had the name of the retailer that received that roll. Normally he wouldn't have access to both lists. He told two of his friends about it and they traveled to the retailer and bought the whole roll of tickets. I am pretty sure they do lots every so often.

But that seems to be for the bigger games that stick around longer, such as the Jumbo Bucks and Big Money Maker. I have noticed the prize amounts on these games go up after coming down.

However you will notice games that go through the entire run of actual ticket numbers (the middle number on the back of the card), then they will start a new number for that game.

So I get out of my car and stop in this grocery store in Brooklyn to buy a pack of cigarettes when I notice that they have a lottery machine. I go to buy a couple of scratch off tickets when I see a posted winner banner. Someone won $50,000 on a $10.00 scratch off ticket a few weeks ago from that store!

Then, there was another posted winner banner that read someone got all five Take Five numbers and won over $80,000 a week later!

Turns out that 'someone' was the same person!!

It was definitely interesting. They showed some different sample ticket designs and asked about the visual appeal of each design, among other things.

(We agreed to be bound by confidentiality, but I don't think its breaking any big secrets to very generally say that they showed some sample designs and asked our opinions.

I occasionally kick myself for not playing a number on Cash 4 about a year and a half ago.

That night when I read the winning numbers and fell over on my car, I looked down at my hand where you could still see the exact, straight winning number written in ink and my mouth hit the floor.

I had only been playing cash 4 about a month, so I was very new. Earlier that day around 330pm at work I saw the number 6712 on my computer or in my mind somewhere. Whatever the case, I wrote it on my hand

Yesterday I put $3 in and was going to play Little Lotto.

Aftet the money was in, the number games up at the top weren't lit. I pressed the one for Little Lotto anyway

(takes $1, $2, $5, or $10, I was going to get $2 and then $1) but it said Error Notification, Function Not Available.

So I wound up getting $3 worth of scratchers and going to the counter for the LL.

My idea, if I had the money to blow... to buy the next ticket of each game at that store. Twenty games, 20 tickets, that dollar amount would be the limit. Never mind if weekly or monthly - never more than one ticket off a roll at a time.

Personally, I'm thinking playing the low value pick three lottery or some such is a better value, if one takes the time to research it.

There appear to be glitches, particularly when a state starts a new lotto.

Better off taking the $40 and buying Sunday newspaper delivery for the coupons - some stores will double them, what you can't use maybe you can trade off or auction online.

Otherwise, hit the flea markets and try to find something to resell.

The odds are against you in this - don't bet what you can't afford to lose.

They have a $50,000,000 Cash Spectacular here in Arizona and it is the only game I play. It's a $10 game as well but only has six (6) $1,000,000 top prizes. If I were in California I would most definitely play the game you mention. Normally these have overall odds of 1:3.4-3.6. It's not uncommon to play on house money for a week or two then lose it all. But the frequency in which I get back what I put into the game ($10) is often enough that it keeps my interest up.

Interesting... I have only won $3 (total) from playing Crossword. It is kind of a kick in the teeth since it takes so long to complete each game card. There's a clerk at one of the gas station that I like to play at and almost every time I've seen her, she is playing the $3 crossword. Sorry for going off topic.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I usually just grab a few and take them home, but sometimes I scratch them in the store. Take today for example. I bought a $20 Maximum Green and it lost. I purchased another ant it won a ticket. The numbers were going down: 005 lost, and 004 won a free ticket, so statistically speaking even if there was a $100 winner in there, the best I could have hoped for would been still losing $20, assuming it was the last ticket in the roll, and it was $100, but who knows, s... I have played it here in MI and I think it is the WORST!!! I don't know anyone that has done any good o it here.. I would presume it's the same game. Most I have ever won is $1 and I have played it both ways.. easy pic and pic my own. And how can they keep such a lousy game going if no one plays it I wonder?

I don't know if this is a question or what, exactly... Basically, I am proposing that my local (or possibly all) 7-11 stores have less winners than other places with scratchers.

Seems unlikely, right? Well I've suspected it for a while, and last night/today made me decide to never buy scratchers from 7-11 again.. Could be bad luck, but here's what happened:

im in CA and i play the fantasy5 almost every night and also buy scratchers regularly but i like to play the fantasy 5 here more cuz the odds are 1 in 575,757 and the odds of hitting top prize on almost all of the scratchers $2 and above here is 1 in 600,000 and above and the top prize is always smaller than the fantasy5 except in a few of the $5 games we have but the odds of hitting top prize on those is 1 in 1,200,000, just based on the odds compared to scratchers i like fantasy 5 and i have h... All state lotteries should be required to post all the information for their scratch-off ticket games such as number of ticket printed, total number of prizes and all remaining prizes at every prize level updated daily. While some states like Texas, Oklahoma and Washington provide all this information, too many only provide such limited data, many times only updated once a week, that it is nearly useless

According to my calculation as stated in the earlier post, it's 59% for the traditional lottery games in NY. No matter if it's 59% or 65%, one things is clear; since the NY lottery commission states itself that the regular lottery draw games only payout 40% to 50% of sales in prizes, the only way they get to this higher overall level is through the higher prize payout percentages of the instant win games.

Earlier this year Illinois had the Mega Millions/Powerball the instant ticket.... And if you got a QP in the bonus box you won a free quick pick for mega millions or powerball... Kinda wish Illinois would be back that game to me it was the best instant game that Illinois has had this year......

Dont know about other states but in Fla there are no 'rules' on how many winners of each category there can be in any single roll

you can have none over $50 or you can have 10 over $50 ive seen both

The closest we have to other states is our $5 Set for Life scratcher, which has a big $2,000,000 top prize, but terrible payouts for the lower prizes, so as a game, you are likely to be well below 50% return unless you hit the big one. Much better games to play for low and mid level prizes are Red Hot 7s and Wild 10s.

I couldn't agree more with Set for Life. I don't play them anymore since I never hit anything decent. 10 bucks at most.

I use AVG2011 - it's free - and boy it picks up a threat immediatley and removes it in a heart beat! I also have Malwarebytes (free) and once in while I'll do a Spybot scan (free too) . I read many faults about Norton and when I did use it a few years ago I wound up with a bad virus it never caught. For me the best ones I listed are free. Also I 'd use the free microsoft safety scanner - now and then to check for a virus. It takes about three hours to complete and seems to work well. I'll set be... [ More ]

In TN the lottery terminals sometimes printout slips showing a breakdown of how many prizes that store has sold. i dont know if this is automatically printed every so often or if a clerk has to manualy do it, but one store owner showed me this slip of paper before.

So I dont know if anyone in the store knows beforehand it has a 'hot roll', or if they find out afterwards.

My buddy told me (this is in Florida) that a Lottery District Manager told him once that there are 40 more Billion Dollar Blockbuster Grand Prize Winners locked in a vault, ready for distribution. I don't know how valid that is, but it caught my ear....I'm sure that there's no strategic placement of them, for instance I don't think they have pre-determined stores or geographical areas for them--- but I'm absolutely positive that they know when a grand prize winner is issued, and which book it go...
