hello,The formula is good, but ideally you should look for statistical patterns that occur in 65% to 75% of the draws, for example, repetition of a digit from the last number, 65% do not repeat in the same position, 70% do not repeat the same sum, etc. In other words, you should look for the rotating patterns of the probabilities of the draws.

Mod 10 works because the digits in the game are 0 to 9. You need to compensate for the range of 1 to 49.

The general idea is

(mod(sum - 1, N) + 1)

Say you were summing the last 2 draws and the last digit was 49 both times...

49 + 49 = 98, this is your sum

Subtracting 1 leaves 97 as your sum-1 from above.

N is the highest ball in the game, in your case, 49.

So (mod(97, 49) + 1) would come out to be a 1, which is in the acceptable range of the balls to select. Mod(98,

I have PA evening pick 3 data back to 1977. The data forms a discrete uniform distribution no matter how you slice it. The full history is just as uniform as taking a 150 draw samples. The mid day game in PA has fewer draws, but the same distribution.

Your best bet to collect full histories is to visit each state's results sections. Some have an actual API, others have urls with a year at a time.

The solution coincides with the previous reply. Interestingly, a linear system will resolve to one of the following solution outcomes: exactly one solution (which is our case), no solutions, or infinitely many solutions.

LP has four 20 number, 6 number abbreviated wheels with 10 to 145 lines. But the method I suggested was for large jackpot 5 and 6 number lotto games.

You asked about the number distribution of a a full pick 6, 20 number wheel and like with all full wheels, each number appears the same amount. A full 6 if 6 of 20 numbers has 38,760 lines and each number will appear 1938 times. Don't know what a 6-spot pays on your Keno game but most U.S. lottery Keno games pay $1100. Depends on how much time... [ More ]

Of the last 408 MM draws, this occurred in 1 out of 7 draws.

Fair point on the probabilities. For this game they are double for each tier from what I showed from my equation since two outcomes result in each prize. The player is expected to lose about $0.44 per $1 spent overall, before income tax of course in the event of a net win. Also, there is some possibility that the $250k top prize will be reduced in the event of more than 20 winners. Still terrible overall in my opinion, but not as terrible as I had suggested originally.

rib

It's very simple to calculate the number of combinations or probability of any possible outcome in Megamillions. Let X be the random outcome of the number of matching main balls on a ticket to the winning numbers (0 to 5) and Y be the random outcome of the number of matching Megaballs on a ticket to the winning Megaball. That is either 0 or 1 since there is only one Megaball selected.

Then,

and

In the P(X,Y) equation, the numerator is the number of possible combinations for... [ More ]

It's still in beta and there's no link to it on the main games page, but if you Google nytimes digits game it's the first result.

Personally I find it easy to get a perfect score of 15 stars every time, under the current scoring system.

That's a hard question. The goal is sort of the opposite of a traditional lottery wheel or covering design, in which you look for a minimal set of combinations that guarantee at least some level of coverage of a prize-winning tier. Here you want a maximal set that guarantees no more than one combo will win a prize. I was able to come up with some crude upper bounds, but they are not very good. I may try a randomized search.

Good though-provoking quesiton.

IMHO, in general government-run lotteries (in the western world at least) are not going to be exploitable in terms of statistical frequency attack. A lot of time, energy and money(!) is obviously put into trying. Eventually, if you look at enough lotteries, you'll find improbable outcomes and what appears to be non-randomness . Highly likely, that doesn't mean there is a flaw. Just if you sample enough, you get unusual patterns. (It's inevitable.) The people who have successfully exploited lotte... [ More ]
