Evening all,

Reading the last 2 posts, I have to admit that I understand that the draws are random . I track the Texas, Power-Ball, and Mega Millions games. I've watched the videos of the balls come out of the ball machines. But, without enough historical data to analyze, it appears that specific balls react differently based on the historical data. That's what I'm attempting to figure out how to analyze. Just because a table contains ball numbers with their associated draw numbers in it for

hey capu, I haven't been here for a while now...my job has going.....but the answer to your question is simple... You could do it in a macro or just within your excel cells! So my question to you is..How good are you at interfacing or implementing excel functions within excel's cells? I think that would be your easiest route, however, I don't understand your math...

As for writing this stuff in your sleep , I'm already doing that. Sometimes their terrible nightmares though... Not having very much experience at writing code, I come up with different ideas to do the things in code that I'd normally do with keystrokes. It's a learning thing. If I can automate my keystrokes to simply clicking a button and having the sub do the work, then I've learned something new and am able to use some of it for the next projec... [ More ]

In some Mega Millions drawings I saw how you can predict all 6 numbers from date of drawing. But it is not always worked!

What I'm looking for is one formula that I would put in cell R10 and just drag to the right, up to AZ10 and would eather return all pairs if all the 9 digits are there or return blanc cells if there is less digits to deal with.

And the same for the duplicate one.

I know it's possible but I'm not qualify for such formula !!!.

It looks like your getting it. You may be adding too many numbers with it. I'm kind of lost with the extra digits following each.

for 1st set I get sum 9=18=7-9

sum 9=10=9-1

sum 3=12=1-3

sum 3=14=3-5

Discard the 9's and 3's and the new digits that come from the 9 are, 7 and 1. From the 3 is 1 and 5. They will look like this then...

This is from the day to day and eve to eve book for the same game number. This one shows the number going up from 3, the previous day draw, because that's the way this book works. Now from the other book it shows the number going down from 7, and since 7 went up in that book, we know to look below 7, that's 6,5,4,3,2,1,0.This one showing the number going up from 3. Since 3 went up here, have to count it in the choices. That's 3,4,5 and 6 for the first number.

This doesn't happen everytime that a 0,4,5,9 hit in WV but every double i see it does right before hand.

Ok just went through some West Virginia games to see if it held true there. It does. Also i see in their games that if there's a 0 or 5 in the previous draw and the other two numbers add up to 10 or 5 there is a double. So that might be worth checking into.

thanks, we were looking for a way of breaking down the numbers in to a combination and a permutation.

to work backward, you can recombined a combination and permutation like this:

if you have a combination like 1 2 3, then the numbers relate to the basic form, 1 = A, 2 = B, 3 = C.

next, if there is a particular permutation selected of the basic form A B C like C A B, then you would substitute each letter with the corresponding number; C A B becomes 3 1 2.

This was a random remider to me. Old show from the 90s called Sliders did an episode on this. They went to an alternate universe where about 9/10 people over their lifetime won the lottery. Then when you win the lottery you were killed as a means of population control the next day.

The odds are 1 in 52 of picking the winning card, and 3 in 52 of picking the right value in the wrong suit. 75% for 1st prize and 25% for 2nd prize would make the prizes proportional to the chances of winning.

Excel help needed. I have all 100 pairs of pick 3 placed into cells $A$1 : $A$100. (1pair per cell)

I have a corresponding value (0:9) in cells B$1: B$100.

I have a 2nd corresponding value (0:9) in cells C$1: C$100.

I have a 3rd corresponding value (0:9) in cells D$1: D$100.

In cells M$301: M$1000 I have pick 3 pairs as they were drawn.

In cells O$301:O$1000 I would like to match the pairs in the M column with the matching value of the B column.

I use just a plain simple calculator. It has the 4 main math functions plus square root and percent. I think I paid about 10 bucks for it.

for a long time i hung onto win 98 and gwbasic because VBA intimidated me. Conditional formating was the straw that made me start using VBA. I credit Gasmeterguy's blog with the information on basic coding that let me get started. once I got started I realized that around 80% of the code was what I was already doing in GWbasic.

You then look at each pair what number they all those pairs have in common, maybe a common denominator, common divisor, common pi, ect, ect...

I saw a system many many years ago that used a digit substitution method. The idea was to look for two digits (1-2 as an example) that repeated within 5 drawings and use the third digits. KH sparked my renewed interest in the question and I've done some work in EXCEL on a 'mechanical' approach somewhat as described above by RL. I used the Lottery Director histories to compile the histories for 13-14 lotteries, imported them to EXCEL, spread the draw results out 40 columns wide to allow them to be more easily filtered and sorted.

I'm just wondering if this could be modified and applied to lotto, to a playslip somehow.

Ohio's Classic Lotto(6/49) playslip has a 10x5 grid with the spot for the 50 blank. I suppose you could use a 7x7 grid to pick/layout your numbers and then tranfer them to the regular play slip.

billybouy does not use past history to the extent that you suggest, and if your maths are as good as you suggest you are missing the maths in this it was done by a mathematician years ago the method I use so have another look and tell me what I am using and doing that has you wondering my friend, perhaps it is something that is older than you are and you wont have heard of it

It depends on what odds your looking for. NY take-5 is a 5-39 game so 29.6% of the numbers equal 11.5.

This would mean you are playing a different game because you can't have 11.5 numbers so for this I will

use 11. There are 462 sets of 5 in 11 numbers and 575757 sets of 5 in 39 so 575757/462=1246.2 so your

odds would be 1 in 1246 if you play all 462 combos. If you are using conditional odds where you think all

5 numbers will come from the pool of 11 then the odds would be 1... [ More ]

You are welcome. This would work for anything with consecutive numbers, but I can understand you wanting to do it without macros. I am working on something for a guy who runs my golf league. I put a button in a field that goes through all scores, finds the most recent 6(even if they miss weeks), drops high and low and then averages out the remaining 4 for the handicap. Like I said, VBA makes working with Excel data simple. He clicks the button and all the work is done for him..
