One ticket sold in the Hoosier State won Wednesday's $435.3 million Powerball lottery jackpot, which had been accumulating for 18 consecutive draws without a winner.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Super Test at 1609 Sagamore Parkway South, in Lafayette. Lafayette is about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
The cash value lump sum is $263.4 million.
The ticket holder should ensure their ticket is in a secure place, consider meeting with a financial advisor and contact Hoosier Lottery customer service at 1-800-955-6886 for specific claim instructions.
Wednesday's Powerball jackpot was the largest since one winning ticket was purchased by an anonymous family from a Hannaford supermarket in Raymond, New Hampshire for a $487 million jackpot on July 30, 2016.
There had been 18 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner since a ticket sold in Shelby, Delaware, matched all six numbers in the $121 million Powerball jackpot drawing on December 17. That ticket was purchased by a Pennsylvania couple, who was able to retain anonymity.
The biggest jackpot ever happened about a year ago in January 2016. The payout reached a record $1.6 billion — the one and only time it has crossed the billion dollar mark. But it also got above $400 million in May, July, and November of last year.
The winning numbers for the Wed., Feb. 22, 2017, Powerball drawing were 10, 13, 28, 52, 61, with Powerball number 2. The Power Play multiplier was 2.
The final jackpot tally rose significantly from its initial estimate of $403 million with a cash option of $243.9 million, established early Sunday morning. By the time all proceeds were counted right before draw time, the annuity jackpot rose to $435.3 million, with a lump-sum cash option of $263.4 million. Those figures propelled Wednesday's Powerball jackpot into the top-10 jackpots of any game in US history. (See top 25 annuity and cash values below.)
In addition to the Indiana jackpot winner, 7 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 1 from Kansas, 2 from Massachusetts, 1 from New Jersey, 2 from New York, and 1 from Texas.
Of the seven second-prize tickets, only the New Jersey ticket was purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per play, doubling their prize to $2 million.
Power Play is not available in California, because the fixed nature of the prize increase offered in Power Play is not compatible with California's pari-mutuel payouts. By law, California awards all prizes on a pari-mutuel basis, meaning the prizes will change each drawing based on the number of tickets sold and the number of tickets that won at each prize level.
76 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $50,000. Of those tickets, 5 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $100,000, and 10 of the tickets were sold in California, where the prize was worth $17,710 this drawing.
Since nobody won the $1,094,043 prize pool available in California for the second prize, that amount will roll into the future Powerball drawings until one or more players hits second prize (matching 5 numbers without the Powerball) and split the prize. Each of California's prize levels works that way, like a mini jackpot that rolls into the next drawing if nobody wins that prize level.
Powerball is played in 44 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Powerball jackpot resets to $40,000,000 for the next drawing to be held Sat., Feb. 25.

So the lucky winner is from Indiana. The whole pot $435million.
Congrats to that winner. Wait and see when they come forward.
Think that should be Selbyville Delaware, in the "Lower slower"
1 lucky person today nice
california didn't steal it this time.
Indiana again, huh? It's rigged...
Must be nice, good luck to them, let's see if they will stay anonymous.
According to the powerball winners stories http://www.powerball.com/powerball/pb_stories.asp Indiana won powerball twice back in 2011. You are thinking of mega millions. http://www.megamillions.com/winners-gallery
Edit: Indiana appears to lack winning mega millions as well.
I was thinking of Tennessee, what with the Robinsons. anyway, if it's not me it's not me.
Actually Indiana has won more jackpots than any other state! We lead with 39 jackpot winners that is both Powerball and Mega combined. I would like to have jackpot #40.
Yeah, California, New York, Florida, New Jersey, Tennessee, or Georgia can't even catch a break anymore! LOL
When a jackpot is won I always wonder if it might be a LP member.
Congratulations to the winner(s)!!!
PowerBall has been won and so another round begins and the draw-by-draw increase in the size of the Jackpot: What it will Grow To: Nobody Knows!
