VIRGINIA, BEACH, Va. — One man claimed two tickets in Virginia Beach that matched all six numbers in the Nov. 18 'Bank a Million,' netting him $2 million after the tax withholding.
The Virginia Lottery says Bernard Bennick of Springfield couldn't remember if he bought a lottery ticket, so to be certain he went out and bought one. It turned out he had already purchased a ticket with the same set of numbers, and all six numbers on both tickets matched the November 18 Bank a Million drawing.
"I went to bed, but I couldn't sleep," he said. "Then I discovered I had the second winning ticket, and I really couldn't sleep!"
Bennick had purchased one ticket at the Food Lion located at 5277 Princess Anne Road and the other at the Food Lion on 4848 Virginia Beach Blvd.
The top prize in Bank a Million is calculated so that winners actually receive $1 million after federal and state tax-withholdings.
The winning numbers in the Nov. 18 drawing were 3, 7, 11, 20, 23, and 33. The Bonus Ball number was 17, although these two tickets didn't need it to win the top prize.
Bank a Million is one of the Virginia Lottery's newest games. The first drawing was Sep. 2. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. The game is played exclusively in Virginia.
The winning numbers for Bank a Million and all other Virginia Lottery games are published minutes after each drawing at Lottery Post's Virginia Lottery Results page.
Keep those meatball parmagiana heroes coming!
What a time to make the mistake of buying two tickets with the same numbers! Way to go!
I have ended up with 'doubles' of the numbers I am playing for various reasons but have not been lucky enough to DOUBLE cash on them. GREAT to hear someone did!
He must of been hammered that night. They say lotto and drinking are a winning combination.
That's the way I like it, $1m for the bank{investments} and $1m for the playpen.
I got 4 of 6 recently on this game....my own numbers. I am next...lol.
WOW! NICE! Great for Him!
That would be a great way to do it!
Congrats to the absentminded lucky guy.
Congratulations!!!
More like: $1M for the taxman, $1m for me!
Some things you just can't make up: This is one of them!
