ROCKLAND, Mass. — A Massachusetts man will be receiving lottery riches for the next 20 years after turning a $10 bet into a $4 million lottery jackpot.
Anthony McLaughlin of Rockland, Massachusetts, chose to collect the prize over 20 years in annual payments of about $130,000 after taxes. He told lottery officials when he claimed the prize on Wednesday that he will use some of the money to buy a new car and to pay for his school tuition.
He won the prize on a $4,000,000 Winfall ticket he bought at Fast Lane Convenience on Union Street in Rockland. The store will receive a $40,000 commission on the sale.
The odds against winning the top prize in the instant game are 5 million to 1.
Ronald Oliveri of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, also had a good week. He claimed a $200,000 prize in the first Second Chance Drawing in the Monopoly Jackpot instant game on Oct. 12.
To enter, players submitted losing tickets through the lottery website or app. Oliveri's ticket was randomly selected from 845,000 tickets that were submitted.
Congratulations Anthony McLaughlin !!! $4,000,000.00
His decision to take the $130,000.00 each year for the next twenty years is correct for him.
Enjoy the new car and get out of debt. But he will probably get a mortgage on a home.
Same thinking here music*; judging by his age in the picture I'd do the same thing too.
Interesting fact about CA & MA second chance drawings; you have to be a physical resident of those respective states to qualify to win. CA sent me an email about this years ago and found the same for back home last vacation on Cape Cod when I went to enter tickets in KY.
I never won playing second chance drawings. I know that Richard Lustig tells us to play them. Anyway MM & PB do not have second chances.
Bleudog101, You must love to travel. If I can make that assumption. I hope that you win big somewhere.
Keeping the dream alive.
Don't travel as much as I did. Here I'm being lazy for a week off, burned out in PICU that's for sure. I do hope to hit it big.
Now you stimulated my brain cells, going to your CA website to see if you guys joined Lucky 4 Life or Cash 4 Life, they're slowly making the 'national circuit.'
No, CA doesn't offer either of those games but with Superlotto, there is no need for small chump change lotteries--not that I would turn anything down!
Congratulations to Both Mr,Anthony McLaughlin and Mr,Ronald Oliveri ENJOY!
Congratulations to the lucky guy!
Congrats!
Congratulations to him.
Congrats to Mr. McLaughlin and Mr. Oliver!
