After the Big Win

At least she won't have to bail him out again anytime soon

By Todd Northrop

BOLIVIA, N.C. — The boyfriend of North Carolina's biggest Powerball winner will spend time in prison and pay a hefty fine as part of a plea agreement in a drug case.

Lamarr McDow, the 32-year-old boyfriend of $188 million Powerball winner Marie Holmes, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to traffic heroin in a Brunswick County, North Carolina, court Wednesday.

McDow, who also goes by the name "Hot Sauce", was sentenced as part of a plea agreement to a minimum of 7.5 years in prison, and must pay a $100,000 fine. He faces a maximum of 10 years.

McDow is the boyfriend of Marie Holmes, who won $188 million in a February 2015 Powerball drawing. Hot Sauce was arrested in November 2014 on charges including heroin trafficking and conspiracy.

Prosecutors allege McDow took a trip to New Jersey for the purpose of trafficking drugs. Law enforcement officials said they recovered thousands of bags of heroin during investigations alleged to involve McDow.

Since Holmes' win, McDow has been released from jail four times after being held on multimillion-dollar bonds. The first happened in March 2015, when a $3 million bond was met on the original heroin charges.

McDow was arrested again during a July raid at the couple's home on a charge of violating conditions of his pretrial release. He was released in August when a $6 million bond was met. Holmes was cited for drug possession in the raid, which investigators said also uncovered drugs and weapons at the home.

In December, McDow was jailed under a $12 million bond following his arrest on charges of conspiring to arrange a street race and again violating his pretrial release. He was released after the bond was met in early January. (See N.C. lottery winner bails out convict fiancé fourth time, Lottery Post, Jan. 4, 2016.)

Judge Richard brown heard McDow's plea Wednesday.

Imbecile has an imbecile girlfriend with $100 million who I assume gives him anything he wants but imbecile still goes out and sells drugs. WTF? I would say the best thing for her would be for them to lock him up for as long as possible but she's an imbecile and will just go find another guy like him who may be even worse. Sigh. Of all the people to win the lottery and a massive jackpot like that, it had to be someone like her.

ThudFinally, Brunswick county NC will stop bleeding the poor girl of her money..

When I say poor, I don't mean wealth wise. She still has plenty for others to try to bleed out of her...

Eeklike her Pastor!!!

Marie Holmes thinks she knows what she is doing. Will she spend a small amount on legal, financial, and mental health care advice? For her family. She needs the right kind of help. She can afford it today before she blows through her prize.

Her win should last until she passes on and then continue for her children's lives.

A winner's family, friends, and herself will be her downfall if she is not careful.

She'll pay the $100K fine no doubt.  He'll get paroled in no time, not 7.5 years as I don't believe this is a Federal prison.  Since it involved another state he could face Federal charges as well, though the way things are nowadays I seriously doubt it.

She's counting down the days until this bottom feeder is released.  Can't win (or haven't so far) the big lottery, but I can guarantee she'll take him back.  Her self-esteem is in the gutter.

Sadly this is going to turn into another story for "Lottery winners who lost it all"

Now, Marie Holmes & her family can move on. Drop him a post card & call it a day.
Hope she don't pay that $100,000. That he has to come up with.

Man, you don't know how mad this whole situation makes me.

He could have had anything he wanted.
With a woman with kids, and a hundred million dollars.

Now, the big dudes in jail are going to be making fun of him,
for giving up what he had.

He may have wished he asked the Judge for lethal injection.

He's sick, as is his woman. The kids are not faring any better.
What are the kids going to reflect on?  That their Mom's boyfriend is a drug dealer and jail magnet?

When will she wake up?

Cool12

Hope she gets the bond money back she already posted

She won $188 million, if she wanted to move away from him and not be with him, she would have done so the day she won the lottery. It's pretty clear she wants to be with this loser until the bitter end. The millions she's spent on bailing this criminal out shows that clearly enough.

Didn't this girl have any parents to teach her what's right and wrong?

I mean how difficult is it to figure out that North Carolina is not the place for her - with all its heat and humidity?

Only when she wakes up, and finds herself in a new situation, like some place in California, it'll all start making sense.

But she refuses to change the present costly and degrading lifestyle and situation. Maybe it's a black thing?
