A New Jersey couple won a $1 million lottery prize just when they needed it most.
Jackie and Rande from Long Branch are the winners of the March 31st Mega Millions $1,000,000 second-tier prize. The couple, who have been married for nearly 17 years, have faced some difficult challenges over the years. The worst of which was when their daughter lost her battle with Lupus, leaving them with three young grandchildren to raise.
Their luck finally turned around on Friday, March 31st when their Mega Millions ticket matched all five of the white balls drawn, making their ticket a $1,000,000 winner. Their friend Debbie, who drove them to Lottery Headquarters, said, "They are the most deserving people in New Jersey. They have helped so many other people in their times of need and now it is their turn to receive this very necessary blessing."
Jackie and Rande will put the money towards their immediate bills first, and use the rest to help continue to raise their grandchildren. Rande said, "I am just very grateful. This will help our lives out a lot."
Jackie, with tear-laden eyes said, "This will be the beginning of good fortune to our family."
Their lucky retailer is Long Branch Convenience, 532 Broadway in Long Branch.

Thanks to Steve for the tip.
Congrats to them and being lucky. Maybe they will have this opportunity to learn something the correct way. I am guessing a quick pick. A lesson to be learned too.
What do they need to learn the "correct way"?
It sounds like they were in desperate times.
Read the article. They were in hard times. Their daughter died and they had to raise 3 grandkids. Sometimes life throws a curveball and there's no "correct" way to avoid it. They dealt with circumstances the best they could, and it's a nice story about how something good happened to them.
So happy for this win for this family that came in at a perfect time. My wish of continued good luck after a terrible loss.
Congratulations--enjoy yourselves
It's wonderful to see positive events taking place for them. Hope the trend continues. Condolences for the loss of their daughter.
lovely story--congratulations--I love reading stories like this--they really needed this blessings
That is so great! Not that the money is compensation for such a painful tragedy, but it's nice to see kind and giving people like this win once in a while.
This is good news. The lottery does have a heart.
They have been Blessed
