Mega Millions

A Washington man came forward Thursday to claim the $157 million Mega Millions jackpot from the drawing on March 8.

A lottery spokeswoman said the man's name is Michael Burkett, but no other information about him was released.

"Burkett presented the ticket at Washington's Lottery headquarters in Olympia, together with his family," a news release said.

He purchased one $5 Mega Millions ticket at a Seattle-area 7-Eleven (9200 35th Ave, SW Seattle WA 98126) using Quick Pick, the release said. He chose the one-time cash payment option before taxes of $102.8 million.

"After the reality of winning settled in, the winner's first purchase was an Alienware PC from Dell. The man, who is a fan of electric vehicles, also shared that he has his eye on a new red Tesla," the news release said.

This is Washington's fourth Mega Millions jackpot winner. In January 2011, an individual won a $380 million Mega Millions jackpot, splitting the prize with another winner in Idaho.

Thanks to Eugene for the tip.

Sounds like he's off to a great start Alienware and a Tesla I am in. Oh and the hundred mil doesn't hurt either.

I can understand getting an alienware PC ....

but I guess the Tesla is the geeks version of a Ferrari or Lambo

Jim & Carolyn McCullar of Emphrata, Washington were the co-winners of the $380 million dollar jackpot back in January 2011. They shared it with Holly Lahti of Idaho. Jim & Carolyn set a good example of making their win last for generations of their family. They used Trusts.

I would prefer an electric blue Tesla. Congratulations to this family!

Congrats to Mr. Burkett.  When I saw that the winner was in Washington, I got excited as I like in Washington.  But sadly when I checked my tickets all I had was a single number on all 5 lines.  :(

Again, Congrats to the winner and hopefully it won't be another 5 years before the next Washington win.

Bagent, I did the same exact thing, I was sure my luck had finally changed lol.  Unfortunately I got zero numbers, what a letdown......back to my dreary life, but it sure was fun planning my number one thing to do, my second thing to do and buying my first class tickets outta here.  I too, sure hope it wont take years to get another major win.  Good luck to us!

I thought we've only had two, this new one, and the guy who picked his own numbers back in 2011.

At least they should have showed the winning ticket
