Glitch delays live Powerball drawing

Powerball

Powerball officials suffered an embarrassing but short-lived glitch when the regularly scheduled, live drawing had to be shelved because of unexplained technical difficulties.

Players who stayed up late Saturday night to learn the lucky numbers probably should have just gone to bed: When the numbers finally were drawn, there were no winners of the jackpot estimated at a cool $215 million.

"Because of a technical problem tonight, we are unable to bring you the Powerball drawing at this time," said the host for the drawing, Sam Arlen. "As soon as we are able to resolve the issue and conduct the drawing, it will be available for viewing on Powerball.com or our YouTube Channel, Powerball39."

Arlen did not detail the technical problem that delayed the drawing scheduled for Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. He simply added that Powerball "takes pride in the strict standards of this game, and our rules require that the drawing be delayed until we can assure that all game procedures have been successfully completed."

The drawing took place about a half-hour later and the winning numbers were published at USAMega.com at 11:43 pm Eastern Time.

Interest has been on the rise for Powerball because a jackpot hasn't been hit since March 24.

Saturday's winning numbers were 14, 29, 36, 57, and 61, with Powerball number 17. The Powerplay multiplier was 4.

Powerball is available in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. The chances of a $2 ticket taking home the jackpot is about one in 292.2 million.

Thanks to hearsetrax for the tip.

Glad Powerball followed its own rules and regulations instead of just going ahead with the drawing glitch or not glitch.

Ironically to me @ least that when Mega Millions had their huge jackpot drawing never saw an explanation as to the reason for the delay on winner(s).  Another MUSL mishap?  We'll never know.

I will start recording on my tablo OTA box.  Glitch my ass.  They know what they're doing and quite honestly if the drawing is on at 1059, then they should have the results onto this site at around 1120pm.

It would be a Godsend if there was a very generous person in Puerto Rico and he/she won. When I win the $88,000,000.00 Lump Sum I will help those U.S. Citizens in Puerto Rico. Maybe through the Red Cross.

I will watch the Media promote this draw and all future draws until the jackpot is won.

To tell you exactly how I feel is they have crossed to many lines. I just can't believe that a business that generates that much money and don't have it together better then that should be shut down. The government has to many problems to even be trusted with a lottery? They should have never took it from the black market. At least let them have it back and give us a choice .competition would make it better I think.

I smell BS  Sounds like something went wrong with the pre-tests that most people don't know about. Or if nothing went wrong with the pre-tests, maybe they tape the drawing in advance and someone forgot to press "record." So they had to have a "do over."  Wink

No matter what happened, they don't want us to know what it was.

Oh well, so much for transparency.

For some reason people don't want to believe it, that is  why the rigging works so well. Nonetheless, I'm with you one hundred percent. A not so funny thing is that I always win on paper. Go figure!

Interesting.  I picked 4 of 6 of the numbers drawn in the delayed drawing.  The timing worked out for me.
