The lucky winner of Tuesday's record £170 million (US$209 million / €190 million) EuroMillions jackpot draw has come forward, the UK National Lottery has said.

Camelot, the operator of the United Kingdom National Lottery, had previously confirmed the winning ticket, worth an incredible £170,221,000, was bought somewhere in the UK.

Exactly where the ticket was purchased or whether the winner is an individual or a lottery pool will not be revealed unless the ticket-holder decides to go public.

Camelot will pay out the prize following a meeting to validate the ticket.

It is then up to the winner to decide whether or not to share their news.

The top prize had grown to the record-breaking amount because it had not been claimed since July and rolled over for the previous five draws after it reached its limit. At that point the rule kicked in mandating that the jackpot be awarded in the next drawing.

The winner matched all the numbers drawn: 7, 10, 15, 44, and 49, with Lucky Star numbers 3 and 12.

They had 180 days from the draw to claim the prize.

This is the fifth time a UK player has won the EuroMillions jackpot this year. The previous winner, who remained anonymous, scooped £123 million in June.

Patrick and Frances Connolly from Northern Ireland won the £114.9 million EuroMillions jackpot in the draw on New Year's Day.

Ade Goodchild banked £71 million in March and an anonymous ticket-holder bagged £38.2 million in April.

The previous biggest winners in the UK were Colin and Chris Weir from Largs, Ayrshire, who won £161 million in July 2011.

Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at The National Lottery, said, "This is the biggest win ever on The National Lottery and we look forward to helping the ticket-holder start to enjoy their new found wealth."

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the winner, if it is just one person, would become one of the wealthiest people in the UK and have more money in the bank than music legends such as Tom Jones and Ed Sheeran.

Previous big winners:

  • Colin and Chris Weir from Ayrshire in Scotland: £161,653,000 (July 2011)
  • Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Haverhill in Suffolk: £148,656,000 (August 2012)
  • Anonymous winner: £123,458,008 (June 2019)
  • Anonymous winner: £121,328,187 (April 2018)
  • Patrick and Francis Connolly from Moira in Northern Ireland: £114,969,775 (January 2019)

Camelot will help the ticket-holder. The first way is to be a tax free win.

Congratulations to all of the previous winners that are listed. I have read that Colin and Chris Weir now regret going public.

The State of Iowa will never be an anonymous State.

i HAVE A RELATIVE LIVING IN uk I SENT HIM £100 AND ASKED HIM TO BUY ME A TICKET EACH DRAW. ( OOPS FOR CAPS )

We won nothing. i had said if we win we can go halves think it was £2 a line. there is something about being a resident of UK to collect or be eligible to collect the prize.
still congrats to the winner or winners, i like the idea of being wealthier than pop stars
