Florida Lottery

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida lottery tickets could soon carry a big warning label if a Republican legislator gets her way.

A House panel on Tuesday voted for a bill that would require all lottery tickets to say "Warning: Gambling can be addictive."

Rep. Jennifer Sullivan, a Mount Dora Republican who is sponsoring the bill, said lottery tickets are a government-sanctioned activity and should come with the same kind of warnings found on cigarettes.

The Florida Lottery sells a wide lineup of tickets ranging in price from $1 to $25 at more than 13,000 locations across the state. If the bill becomes law, it would take effect in January.

It's not clear if the bill will pass. A companion measure has not yet been heard in the Florida Senate.

Anyone who does not know gambling is addictive has never gambled.  True it's worse for some

than others but we all like to take our chances when the stakes are high and the cost is low.

The lottery can offer really big payouts and where else can we buy a chance to win a billion

dollars for a couple bucks? Cheers   sounds good.

Change, I've had enough change to last a lifetime.  Things must be good in Florida

if putting labels on lottery tickets is front and center.

Maybe it's actually a CYA tactic by the lottery and the state so no one can win, blow it all, and blame them.

There's an article in NEWS about a woman in England who won a jackpot, blew most of it, and blamed the lottery for letting someone that young win so much.

How much did this stunt cost the lottery and the players?  Another political nutcase inserting herself where she doesnt belong.

It's called 'chasing' and some players want their money back so bad they'll spend hundreds to recover very small amounts.

Those who want their money back that bad have no business playing at all.
