LANSING, MI — A 40-year-old lottery player from Wayne County, Michigan, nearly walked away from a winning 100X The Cash Fast Cash ticket that ended up being worth $416,616.
"I stop at the Citgo each day on my way to work to grab a couple things to get my day started," said the player who chose to remain anonymous. "I had won a few bucks on some instant games, so I decided to buy a 100X The Cash Fast Cash ticket.
"When the clerk printed the ticket, it jammed in the machine and almost ripped in half. I didn't want to take the ticket because I thought it was bad luck. I asked for a new ticket, but the clerk talked me in to taking the torn one. I am so glad I took his advice! I'm going to go back and share some of this with him because he's the reason I'm here today."
The lucky winner bought his ticket at the Citgo gas station, located at 20913 Gibralter Road in Brownstown Township.
"Paying my house off at 40 years old is the most amazing feeling in the world," said the winner.
He visited Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing earlier this week to claim his prize. Along with paying off his house, the winner plans to start a college fund for his son and save the remainder.
"I feel like I'm walking around in a dream. No debt over my head is a dream come true!" the player said.
Perfect !!!!

Good call on getting the ticket. When you think the ticket is a mistake..The mistake you must TAKE!
I like to take mistake tickets myself and tickets that are printed that players do not want for some reason or another.-weshar75
Done the same thing a time or two.
Can't verify this but my late Mum told me how a customer mistreated the clerk for ringing up a wrong lottery ticket in WA state where she retired to. Guy was a total jerk. forcing her to buy the ticket. It won something like $7 million. Karma will get you every time.
My take on a "mistake" when it comes to the lottery is to take advantage of the situation. You may think you know your luck, but you can't possibly know the luck of the other person involved. Many times a negative on the other side becomes a positive on your side.
And a Big Congratulations to this winner!
Just like Michael Donnelly, a store clerk from VA that hit the cash for life button instead of Power Ball and purchased the ticket for himself.
He won $7 mil
Va. grocery store worker's lottery ticket mistake turns into $7 million grand prize
Elated to know he'll pay off that mortgage. Good for him.
Have yet to win from a 'mistake' ticket. Had one jam at a self serve..and when the clerk finally wrestled it free. That night it had no winning value. It was a mistake for a reason.
Sometimes the universe is being straight up honest. It's a mistake. End of story.
When my daughter was getting her masters degree in upstate ny at Syracuse University. She worked in a little smoke shop at the Carousel Mall ( know as Destiny USA ).She had a customer driving her to tears over a mistake on a lottery ticket .So she went to her purse and purchased the ticket. The guy was a very miserable person. Two or three weeks pass by ,...and my daughter was searching for something in her purse. She came across that ticket and checked the numbers , well she won $1,135.00.She photo copied and enlarged the ticket and keep it with her.Just as she hoped for ,.....the miserable guy returned and she showed him the copy she had made. So what see said next to this guy was priceless ,...."so you been winning anything on the Lottery lately".lol
Interesting..
l was at a gas station this afternoon, l handed the clerk my play-slip, and he keeps looking back at the slip and monitor and finally presses a # and hands me back the play slip and ticket. When l went outside, l noticed that l had forgotten a number on the slip and this guy, without asking me " added a number of his choice" on my ticket. l wanted to go back in and ask him why but just decided to move on. l guess after reading this piece yesterday, l thought who knows, maybe my mistake and he's gumption could work in my favor. But it got me thinking- would you have gone back in and asked the clerk why?
I would have asked him... "If there was a number missing from my play slip, why didn't you ask me for a number rather than taking it upon yourself to pick one?"
But, hey, like you said, maybe your mistake and what he did will work in your favor.

Off subject, just wanted to pass along a compliment to Todd et all on the lottery jackpot page. Noticed both Hoosier Lotto and NJ 6 both increased by $600,000. Then clicked game information and Hoosier Lotto is RNG and NJ is not. That precludes me from playing tomorrow in Indiana.
