Another member said the same thing last year or so, and that person just like you, doesn't realize how many people who come to this site and really don't grasp the high odds against them. You and the seasoned veterans may, but a lot more don't truly understand the astronomical odds. If you don't believe me, just waft through the lottery discussion pages and you'll see terms like..."I can't believe I haven't won the JP yet", and similar terminology. And then there are the type who ask questions about LLCs and what type of financial help they should seek, as If it's an inevitable event...lol
It's ubiquitous on LP. I actually started a file on my desktop and copy and pasted quotes from people it into the file so I can remind people like you who don't believe. Unfortunately I stopped adding to the list because I have a life outside LP.
And yes, it is germane to the discussion. The OP is talking about something that he or she will probably never ever have to deal with in their lifetime. In no way am I discouraging or making fun of people who play a lot of money for JP games, that's their money and their business, but I have the right to say something about it too. This is a discussion forum right?
We all know the odds....
It's all statistics, chance, luck....or whatever.
People come here to socialize, be educated, bounce off ideas....and sometimes just vent ( you?).
I play knowing the chance is one in many many millions....but if it SHOULD ever happen, I know I would want to be anonymous. I travel from time to time and as my State is not an one that lets me keep the news to myself, I would prefer to buy in a state that does.....
I come here to be educated on the state's putting forth bills to change their privacy laws. So I asked to get info from residents of state's where it may have been brought up.....

Thank you! No one needs some scold lecturing us or compiling files on commenters. Sheesh! That's just nuts!

I hang out on this site mainly to interact with ideas such as strategies in smaller games like the Pick-3. I also emphasize that there's a big difference between small and big games. Big JP wins are only attainable to 1% of the people who bet in their entire lifetime. Excuse me for stating facts, but If facts is being negative, then I'll be labeled negative.
You can't please everyone
The people with plans for claiming imaginary jackpots anonymously probably never had a W2-G. Because if they had, they would know the clerk validating their ticket saw their drivers license with full name and address along with their SS number. And there is that pesky Freedom of Information Act too. Oh and in some states winners over $600 must sign and have notarized they owe no child support or back taxes.
Maybe they think anonymity means nobody will know how much they won including the IRS, state tax, and the clerk validating the ticket.
"If the facts is being negative, then I'll be labeled negative."
If you even mention the redundant "how will you spend your millions?" threads, you're risking the wrath of the "dollar for a dream" people. Forget the fact only 6.79% of MM tickets will win anything, somebody is eventually going to win so it might as well be them.
